20 nuatical miles awya from Argostoli in Kefalonia 65 refugees are trapped since yesterday in the international waters. They refuse to go on the Greek Coast Guard boats because they want to continue their journey to Italy.
At around 11 o’clock on Monday the adventure of the refugees became public as they lacked sufficient fuel so their boat could not continue its journey. A cargo ship that happened to be nearby and the Greek Coast Guard approached but the refugees refused to get off their boat and to be brouhgt to a nearby Greek island. Since almost 11 hours they are on the same point at the sea. The Greek Coast Guard is checking differnt possibilities to solve the situation. All 65 refugees are safe.

Het is een groot gevecht voor het proberen om onze plaats leefbaar te houden en we weten dat soms moeten we ons best doen om het zo schoner mogelijk.
Dus, voor dat we graag van u om ons te voorzien van een aantal tools voor het schoonmaken van de “Badkamers” en indien mogelijk voor degenen die ook kan vinden ons wat “Wasmachines”.
Ook zonder forgeting dat we dat we nog steeds in de behoefte van alle vervoer betekent voor koelkasten van een aantal locaties in Amsterdam te verzamelen.
De belangrijkste componenten voor de badkamers:
-Rode emmers “Speciale kleuren” voor de badkamers niet te worden gebruikt in andere kamers.
-Bezems
-Ruitenwissers
-Luchtverfrissers
-Toilet papier
– … etc

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) on Thursday urged Europe to act urgently to the significant increase in the number of immigrants crossing the Mediterranean, in a statement released in Geneva.
In the last 10 days, more than 260 immigrants have died trying to cross the Mediterranean, bringing to over 800 the number of deaths this year.
“The death of 260 people in less than 10 days, in horrible circumstances, shows that the crisis intensifies in the Mediterranean,” said High Commissioner for Refugees, Antonio Guterres.
“Europeans must act urgently to prevent this catastrophe from worsening further,” he added.
Guterres called on governments to strengthen their relief operations, providing quick access to asylum procedures for those who need protection and find legal alternatives to the dangerous crossing the Mediterranean.
The balance of 800 dead since the beginning of the year is higher than the (600 dead) last year and 2012 (500).
