As active unionists who are in solidarity with the refugee movement, we are shocked about the violent police eviciton of the DBG-house Berlin on the 2nd of October. The refugees, who have spent one week in the DGB-house, demanded political solidarity from the German unions. Independently of the concrete assessment of the action it is a scandal that the leadership of the DGB Berlin had the refugees thrown out of the building by the police.
As unionists we take it as our duty to support people in illegalized and precarious situations with all our force. It is not understandable why the DGB was not able to respond to the demands of a commitment for the union-membership, a meeting with the member-unions, a meeting with responsible politicians and the organization of a manifestation.
