Vanmiddag, vrijdag 30 november 2015, heeft een groep van 45 mannen en vrouwen, vluchtelingen uit Ethiopië en Eritrea, het bedrijfspand op Joan Muyskenstraat 32 gekraakt. De groep afgewezen asielzoekers van We Are Here is tot deze actie overgegaan omdat de gemeente Amsterdam geen adequaat onderdak verschaft.
Tot voor kort hadden de vluchtelingen onderdak in kleinschalige opvangprojecten die werden georganiseerd door Amsterdamse kerken en het Leger des Heils. Deze projecten zijn echter stopgezet omdat de betrokken partijen vinden dat de overheid verantwoordelijk is voor het organiseren van adequate opvang.
Amsterdam weigert echter die opvang te verstrekken en biedt alleen nachtopvang en slechts 24-uurs opvang voor enkelen die kunnen aantonen ernstig ziek te zijn. Echter, de plaatsen die Amsterdam heeft, zowel nachtopvang als 24-uursopvang, zijn bezet. De afgelopen twee weken heeft de groep meermalen actie gevoerd voor adequate opvang, maar de Gemeente weigert voldoende opvangplaatsen in Amsterdam te creëren.
Voor de vluchtelingen is nachtopvang geen humane optie, want op die manier ga je net niet dood, maar kun je ook niet leven. Ze zouden dus de hele dag op straat moeten zwerven, zonder geld en eten. Ze …read more

138 migrants were rescued and the bodies of 19 (8 children among them) were recovered after their boat capsized off the island of Kalymnos, in the second major deadly incident this week.
In a second incident off the island of Rhodes, three people, including a child and an infant, drowned and three were missing. Six people were rescued at sea.

LJUBLJANA CALLING! Solidarity action for situation of refugees in Slovenia
Call for international meeting, manifestation and solidarity action in Slovenia
For more than a week the so-called Balkan Route is passing through Slovenia. The Slovenian government intended to impose the entrance quota of 2500 refugees per day. The governments of the Balkan Route states do not want to accept any responsibility for the refugees and migrants, that is they do not want to accept and accommodate them for a longer period of time. Croatia answered by sending the refugees and migrants over the so-called “Green” border. This controversy between Slovenia and Croatia created dire humanitarian conditions for the refugees and migrants. The Slovenian government used this self-produced humanitarian emergency and what they call a chaotic situation on the Southern border to rapidly militarize the society and call for an EU summit on the Balkan Route.
The results of the Sunday summit are measures corresponding to EU policies, demolishing the movement of refugees and migrants. In the darkness around the Non-Syrian gate of Moria three children are standing in the mud and crying. The two sisters and one brother lost hold of their parents. “They told us to wait in the tent. Then they went to get the documents for us. We are 5 days waiting in the queue. Two days we are permanently wet. We are hungry. We freeze. Our parents left hours ago. Now it is dark.
