Just recently we learned from the press that Senat together with the Berlin districts published a list of places where so called „MUF“ (modular shelter for refugees) should be built. The only place on this list where people are living is our home in Kiefholzstraße 74, where a lager should be built to force us to leave. Until now there was no direct communication with us.

While BIM – Berlin grounds and houses company (that is maintaining selling property of the state) is fighting against us for two years and trying to make us sign a contract with racist paragraphs that forbid refugees, rrom_nja and people without papers or with Residenzpflicht to come to our ground.

Radical queer wagonplace Kanal is not only our home but also a political project that is threatened with eviction right now. Kanal is a queer space with a majority of refugees, migrants, Black people, rrom_nja and People of Color who try to live together self-determined, based on on the uncrompromising fight against any kind of state power such as racism, classism, sexism, inter-trans-homo discrimination.

Ein Rückblick auf politisches Engagement in den 1990ern und Gegenwartsperspektiven

In den 1990er Jahren gab es ein starkes politisches Engagement von Rromnja* (Rroma-Frauen*), die sich insbesondere in Köln für das Bleiberecht von Geflüchteten einsetzten und gegen Rassismus und Sexismus kämpften. Rromnja* sind auch heute als Bürgerrechtlerinnen und zivilgesellschaftliche Akteurinnen in sozialen Bewegungen aktiv, ihre Arbeit und ihre Biographien sind jedoch weitgehend unbekannt und in gesellschaftlichen und medialen Debatten wenig präsent.
Der Abend soll daher das politische Engagement von Rromnja* heute und in den 90er Jahren in den Blick nehmen und folgende Fragen diskutieren: Welche Themen waren damals wichtig und welche stehen heute im Mittelpunkt? Welche Akteurinnen* waren und sind an den Bewegungen beteiligt? Welche Erfolge und Hürden, welche Unterstützung gab und gibt es in ihrer Arbeit? Und wie waren bzw. sind die gesellschaftlichen Voraussetzungen für das Engagement von Rromnja*?

Hat man in letzter Zeit häufiger die Nachrichten verfolgt, wird man festgestellt haben, dass die „Flüchtlingsthematik” an der Spitze der wichtigsten Tagesordnungspunkte in den europäischen Länder steht. Jedoch wird dabei die Thematik der Geflüchteten mit ihren ganzen Facetten und den eigentlichen Fluchtgründen nie zum Kern des Diskurses gemacht. Die Staaten gehen innerhalb ihrer strategisches Planung und Bewältigung des Themas mit einem, für sie Vorteil bringenden, Pragmatismus an die Sache heran

Vom „Flüchtlingsfrühling“ der Bourgeoisie zur organisierten Ausländer*innenfeindlichkeit

Unterdessen wurde, im Rahmen des Flüchtlingsdiskurses, das von der deutschen Regierung entworfene Asylpaket II zur weiteren Verschärfung des Asylrechtes vom Ministerrat bestätigt. Während die Geflüchteten in den ersten Wochen des massenhaften Flüchtlingsandrangs noch mit Blumen und willkommenheißenden Slogans empfangen wurden, werden nun gegen dieselben Menschen ständig neue Gesetzespakete zur Beschränkung ihrer Rechte verabschiedet. Mit jedem weiteren Gesetzespaket wird der Druck auf die Geflüchteten Stück für Stück weiter forciert. Die Tatsache, dass die Willkommenskultur bloß unglaubwürdige Plattitüde war, fällt nun wie Schuppen von den Augen.Mit den Asylpaketen wird ein deutliches „Nimmerwiedersehen ” in Richtung der Geflüchteten geschickt. After Austria decided to tighten its policies, which are more strict to let people, who will ask asylum in Germany or Austria, to enter its borders, domino effect is occuring on the Balkan route, making some countries to enforce pushbacks.

Manifestation against FRONTEX, Fortress Europe and Borders! FERRIES NOT FRONTEX – 23th February 5 pm in front of BCC Berlin

In 2015, more than 1.000.000 people actively fought against Fortress Europe by crossing the EU external borders. In reaction to that, the EU and its border agency Frontex increased their efforts to criminalize refugees and supporters and thus to impede the freedom of movement. The European Police Congress is one of the venues, where the upgrading of Fortress Europe will be discussed and developed. On February 23^rd, Fabrice Leggeri, executive director of Frontex, is going to speak at this congress. We want to use his visit as an opportunity to protest against aggressive and inhumane policies, which the EU imposes on migrants at the external borders. Come to our manifestation and raise your voice against FRONTEX, Fortress Europe and borders!

The European Agency for the Management of Operational Cooperation at the External Borders was created in 2005. After the suspension of the physical Schengen borders, Frontex is now in charge of strengthening the surveillance and control of the EU external borders. The agency is operating as the headbody of the EU surveillance network EUROSUR, coordinating the surveillance systems of the member states. …read more
