Voices from Idomeni (Movie)

By admin

We put together our talks with people who were stucked behind the border in Idomeni. In the summer 2016 there were more than 10000 people stucked behind the border as the Greek government closed the border under the pressure of Germany. People occupied the rail way protesting for opening of borders. They have got attacked several times by Greek and Maccedonian armies.

Statement: Deportation is a crime. Italy and EU, stop deportations of Sudanese refugees now!

By palme43

demo sudan

Last Thursday, 25 August 2016, Italy has started sending migrants back to Sudan on special chartered flights, with 48 suadenes refugees already deported.
Sudanese and Italian authorities are working together to tackle the so-called migrant crisis. This deportation is clearly part of the cooperation between the Sudanese dictatorship regime and the EU, which was started a long time ago with “Khartoum process” http://www.aedh.eu/The-Khartoum-Process-a-new-step-in.html
And at the same time the whole world knows that President Omar Hassan Ahmad al-Bashir is wanted for war crimes and crimes against humanity be the International Criminal Court (ICC) and is abusing human rights on all levels. Amnesty International says about the human rights situation in Sudan 2015/16: “The authorities repressed the media, civil society organisations and opposition political parties, severely curtailing freedoms of expression, association and assembly. Armed conflict in Darfur, South Kordofan and Blue Nile states continued to cause mass displacement and civilian casualties; human rights abuses were perpetrated by all parties to these conflicts. Government forces destroyed civilian buildings, including schools, hospitals and clinics in conflict areas, and obstructed humanitarian access to civilians needing support because of the ongoing hostilities.” (https://www.amnesty.org/en/countries/africa/sudan/report-sudan/) And after all that, we see that Italy and the EU are working …read more

Radio piece – Here is the story of great 150 people who passed 5 european borders – March For Freedom

By admin

Two years ago more than 150 people made a political march to pass european borders, asking for change in EU Asylum policies. They write:

We decided to organize a European caravan which will go from the largest number
of European countries towards Brussels (Belgium), where the European institutions
are settled. Showing that we don’t respect the borders they impose us, holding us
prisonners of the states borders and in the lagers, we will exercise our basic right of
freedom of movement and adress our demands directly where the decisions come
from.
We have a dream :
– Freedom of movement and of residence for all asylum seekers,
– Stop the Dublin trap and the obligatory residence in Lagers throughout Europe
– Permanent documents without criteria (not depending on working contracts
or individual state prosecution)
– Stop the imprisonment and deportation of migrants
– Same working conditions for all
– Same political, social and cultural rights for all: right to study and to work
– Stop the European imperialist policies: no more free trade treaties and NATO wars
– Abolish Frontex, Eurosur and other anti-migration policies and measures
Here is a one hour radio program from that days, talking to the …read more

This Newspaper Is Written by Refugees, for Refugees — Vice reports about “Daily Resistance”

By admin

One Berlin-based newspaper, however, wants to change how the migrant crisis is covered in print, and it’s doing so by giving the platform to the refugees themselves. In a letter from the editors, Daily Resistance explains it’s a publication that’s “fighting against a system of politicians, media, and capitalists that is based on dehumanizing laws that criminalize and instrumentalize people.” Rooted in political activism, the newspaper upholds and reiterates the demands of the refugee movement: abolish all lagers (refugee camps), end the German policy of residenzpflicht (which requires refugees to stay within certain boundaries), stop all deportations, and allow refugees to work and study. Articles are written by refugees situated in the camps, as well as by members from activist groups around Europe. The paper is eventually printed in different languages that cater to its readership, including Farsi, Arabic, Turkish, German, French, and English.

Beyond Voluntourism and Holidarity? White German Activists on the ‘Balkanroute’ – (Self)Reflections

By admin

Some of our friends who where active in the Balkan route and in the Greece last year has wrote a self-reflection about the German activists who travelled there. Mixing the words Volunteering and Turism and also Solidarity and Holiday we come to the terms Voluntourism and Holidarity. You can read their text in English and German in the blog:

https://ReflActionistCollective.noblogs.org

excerpt from the introduction:

1. Introduction: Man spricht Deutsch on the ‘Balkanroute’

Summary: Many activists from Germany started going to the ‚Balkanroute‘ during last summer to support migrants– it seemed like a new trend. After our own trips to the ‚Balkanroute‘, we wanted to reflect more about the connection between this kind of activism and our own privileges. On the one hand, direct signs of political solidarity with migrants1 seemed important. On the other hand, we realized that sometimes our presence and activities stabilized our privileges and the system of white supremacy.

Heading from Belgrade Eastwards to the Croatian border. Stopover in Adaševci, the gas station where most of the migrants are waiting for hours, before continuing their journey by train. While searching for a parking lot for our van, we recognize two other vans: German license plates, …read more

U.S. Sets Stage for Libya-Like Regime Change in Eritrea, “Africa’s Cuba”

By freedomnotfrontex

The U.S. is moving towards war against Eritrea, a fiercely independent African nation of only six million people. Washington has deployed its UN “human rights” proxies to justify another “humanitarian” military intervention, remarkably like the UN-sanctioned aggression against Libya, in 2011. The UN panel charges Eritrea with “enslaving” and murdering its own people – a pack of imperial lies. Obama is set to add another war to his bloody legacy.

“Eritrea’s fierce independence has put it in imperialism’s crosshairs.”

The United States is methodically setting the stage for a so-called “humanitarian” military intervention against the small northeast African nation of Eritrea, under legal pretexts much like those used to justify NATO’s war of regime change against Libya, in 2011. As in Libya, the U.S. has hijacked the United Nations human rights apparatus to claim a “responsibility to protect” (R2P) Eritrea’s citizens from alleged abuses by their own government. War and regime change are the intended result.

Washington engineered UN sanctions against Eritrea, beginning in 2009, on the patently bogus charge that Eritrea’s determinedly secular government provided “political, financial and logistical support” to Islamist Shabaab fighters in Somalia. Islamic jihadism is anathema to Eritrea, whose population of six million on the shores of …read more

This was my home: Statement from the solidarity squat Ορφανοτροφείο

By freedomnotfrontex

Please help us spread the statement of people from the solidarity
squat Ορφανοτροφείο in regards to the eviction of our squat in
Thessaloniki last week. Police raided and evicted the house in the early
hours of Wednesday arrested the people and afterwards transported all
non-European comrades to a military camp 45 minutes outside of the city,
meanwhile 4 European comrades are faced with a trial tomorrow.

This was my home

This was home for me and my children And for thirty more families
and many other people. We were living like one family, and we came from
all over the world It was our school, it was our culture. It embraced
our different opinions and beliefs. It was the real helping hand for
everyone. Freedom of speech and expression existed there in the full
sense of the term.

The main aim of this place was to bring together and unite all human
ideas and practices in order to serve the weak and the oppressed and
support the dispossessed. And just when we thought we were at last safe,
that we were in the right place, European governments that claim to
support justice and equality and not sectarianism and authoritarianism
and that allegedly stand for freedom and democracy decided that we don’t
deserve to live in peace. They decided we …read more
